When one party ends, another begins.

Epigraph

Книги, которые читают, имеют настоящее.

Книги, которые перечитывают, имеют будущее.

Александр Дюма сын

When one party ends, another begins. Authorship — unknown. How it relates to the epigraph? In a very illogical way.

Remember Ray Bradbury? A prolific American writer of many memorable stories. Fahrenheit 451 is the one that accrued world fame. I read it after I witnessed the «burning» of the books.

The books that were speaking in foreign languages and on different subjects (including archaic brain-washing doctrines) were not literally put on fire; they were thrown away from the shelves to the downstairs on the ground floor, done and dusted.

To the luck of rare books, antiquarian booksellers, keen on collections, overheard about this day and came to take them for granted.

Last December I came across a living library in a city park, surrounding a pond. The library, crafted out of a wood trunk and consisting of several shelves, was inviting to make a round and pick a book or leave a read one to the reading public.  The Academic owl was chairing the top of the trunk and the message beneath the claws was saying to the guest:

Books that are read have the present.

Books that are re-read have the future. Alexander Dumas son

I borrowed a book from childhood for leisure time at my age, and on my way kept pondering over the quote and reciting it.

I have a small personal library: books for a season, for a reason, for a lifetime, you never know. Amongst them, some belong to the bygone past, re-written multiple times; these books will never be re-read in the present (with exception of their authors and maybe their mothers),  they have no value for the future; they contain articles that were written and re-written about the changing past and lost in a web of milliard similar ones; they are important to me. It is all about a «party» that brought different minds together at a point in time and energized them with ideas later shared in the articles. And then we moved away to our destinations. The party ended.
