A story should have a beginning, a middle and an end, but not necessarily in that order.» — Jean-Luc Godard
Wishing to mark St. Valentine’s day in 2017 I headed to L’Institut Francais a Budapest to watch short films selected to remind of the power of love.
Un.Je sens le beat qui monte en moi.
Deux.Le sens du toucher.
The first two films were very touching and the characters were portrayed as bizarre and sensitive but still everyone can recognize herself or himself in them.
What is straighforward trivial and striking at the same time is that no matter how vulnerable or inconfident man can feel if he likes you he takes initiative for good.
The last animation Argile from China was brutal. I am in two minds how to nail down this characteristic: brutally honest in its representation or brutally real to life though an animation.
Speaking of the plot and the protagonist, it projected a genuinely stereotypical vision of a jealous woman who makes things up in her head and eventually condemns her beloved to death when he appears in the picture. Hardly can anyone believe that man can act like that, right? 🙂
To Love! Un ou Deux sans Trois.
